ILEYA is a statewide organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of public safety leaders.
The Illinois Law Enforcement Youth Association (ILEYA) serves as the statewide support system for Explorer and Cadet programs across Illinois.
Our mission is to:
Support existing youth law enforcement programs
Help new posts get started and succeed
Organize statewide training events and competitions
As part of our mission to promote hands-on learning and statewide collaboration, ILEYA hosts a semi-annual summer competition during even-numbered years.
This event rotates between various locations across Illinois and brings youth teams together to compete in law enforcement-based scenarios and challenges.
These competitions not only test participants’ knowledge, teamwork, and tactical skills, but also offer opportunities for networking, mentorship, and professional development.
To become a member of ILEYA, individuals must be actively enrolled in a law enforcement education program, such as:
An Explorer Post
A Cadet Program
Or another self-insured public safety youth initiative
Membership is open to both youth participants and their advisors, with the goal of fostering leadership, discipline, and career readiness.
Every two years, ILEYA hosts a statewide competition for Explorer and Cadet programs across Illinois. Each event is judged by active law enforcement professionals who provide valuable feedback.
Teams face off in realistic law enforcement scenarios during the competition
More than just a competition, this is a chance to:
Build real-world skills
Network with peers and officers
Grow leadership and confidence
